Stock Horse Association of Texas
The Stock Horse Association of Texas was organized to promote the raising, training, using and
competing on a type of horse that is used primarily for working cattle or other livestock. A Stock
Horse is sometimes referred to as a “Cow Pony” or a “Cow Horse”. Amy’s family has been in
the ranching business in West Texas and other regions of the country for six generations.
Raising and using stock horses/cow horses was a way of life for all those generations of the Bell
family. In 2017, as a way of honoring Amy and her love for the “cow horse” her best friend,
Reba Rogers, joined by her parents Karla and Bozo Rogers, established the Amy Doris Bell
“Pay It Forward” Scholarship with the SHOT Association, The purpose of establishing this
scholarship was to honor Amy’s ideas, desires, and commitment to helping others improve their
lives. In the words of the Rogers family, “Amy and her parents Larry and Ellen Bell’s
commitment to “Paying It Forward” played a large part in the college education for Reba. The
Rogers family believes this is a God given opportunity to honor Amy by “Paying It Forward” to a
deserving youth who will benefit from this scholarship.
